more abt yo assessment

em.. Liying asked me abt yo assessment today. actually i had blog abt it already. but i will be more detail today ..

at first we thought the assessment is for Violin 2s (coz they are really bad... they way they talk is much louder than the way they talk.. they want to fake also dunno how to fake properly.. the worst thing is: they invade into bass section's area !!! UNFORGIVABLE!!) but it turned out for desk arrangement.

Here are the rulez:
1) it's on Beethoven Symphony No.7 first movement
2)all first desks dun have to be assessed (they are assumed to be good enough.. which is quite sad ,coz we actually hope they can assess queen as we think he is not up to standard to be an AP yet... but since none of us want to stand beside the king anyway, it's still better for him to stay where he is now =P)
3) Assessment will be on 3rd March .. originally (coz Mr Lim was hospitalized and thought have stroke, causing right body paralyzed.. turned out to be high blood pressure).. so it's postponed to 10th March

the assessment was much shorter than i thought. we were told to play the opening scales, then played a fast part that we like. the whole assessment didn't last more than 1 min.. some oboe player played less than 24 bars!!! it's individual assessment, according to names. the order and comments are as follow :

Yu Zhe: Screwed up his high A for the scale.. (he claimed he can do it during practice normally..) told to play slower for the horrifying third page

Dinah: Mr Lim said her sound has improved a lot.. but she think it's not very clear.. was told to play slower

Sandra: was told that she got quite some wrong notes in her playing

Tedson: i can't rmb abt him.. but he sprained his right wrist on the assessment day. and he hurt his right hand 2nd finger a few days ago... it's TWICE of my finger then.

Me: em.. i dun have negative comment. Mr Lim said my rhythm is good. my playing is good. and he was very impressed that i breathe before i start playing ^_^

Benjamin (came late due to MEP): he used my bass coz he had no time to take his out.. since he's not use to it, he kept snapping the bass.. partially coz we chased him in for audition juz aft he reached for yo (we were rushing for dinner), so he is very unprepared

The assessment had led to the new desk arrangement (upper at right, lower at left):
Rayner + Tian Chen (duh)
Me + Dinah (we switch.. but still playing own original upper/lower parts for the upcoming concert)
Yu Zhe + Sandra (Sandra is angry and hating Rayner now coz he separated Benjamin from her... )
Tedson + Benjamin (Mrs Wong told them that they might get kick to TO due to their poor performance in assessment.. they got scare and even went to ask Mr Lim for re-assessment.. but he said they are ok.. juz put them in the last desk and will continue to observe them)

the funny fact is: All Ms Yeo's students are playing upper now (except Benjamin whom i have no idea whether he is upper or lower.. he got same result as Tedson so it's up to them to decide)

So far, the new desk arrangement is ok... was not really use to it last week (though only changing after concert, but King insisted) coz i can't see rayner/dinah/mr lim at the same time anymore... Dinah was not used to it coz she can't take off her shoes anymore (she's directly in front of Mr Lim now).. Sandra and Benjamin were not used to it coz they need to leave each other (how sweet <3)...Tedson and Yu Zhe are fine with anything.

oh there was a small incident happened this thurday: coz i got CLL CT on friday, so i was thinking abt exchange place with Sandra and sneak into 3rd desk so that i can mug.. it so happened that i was late and sandra was already replacing me!! I was like "YES!! 天助我也!!" before the king asked me to change back with sandra ~>.<~... he said it's not his fault for me to be 2nd and muz stand at where i belong.. he said it's not his fault for me to take CLL and had CT on friday.. ARHHH~~~~ dunno why they insisted that i shall stand at where i am =.=ll maybe becoz i am the only person in the whole section that king and queen can get along quite well with ..so i am acting like the green belt/ the berlin wall... lol
